Is VertiComply HIPAA compliant?
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Short answer: yes, you can build and host HIPAA-compliant apps with VertiComply. Every generated app includes the HIPAA technical safeguards, and VertiComply signs a Business Associate Agreement on every paid plan, from Pro at $89/month, on request. The Free plan is for building with synthetic data only. No software is “HIPAA certified” — HHS does not certify software — so your app’s compliance also depends on your own policies and vendors.
What VertiComply does for HIPAA
- Generates the HIPAA Security Rule technical safeguards into every app, on every plan: encryption at rest and in transit, audit logging, role-based access control and session timeouts.
- Scans the generated code against HIPAA and other frameworks (GDPR, SOC 2, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU AI Act and more) before you ship.
- Signs a BAA on Pro, Business and Enterprise for PHI it hosts or processes for you.
- Gives you the full source code (ZIP download from Pro), so you are not locked in.
What stays your responsibility
- Your HIPAA risk analysis, policies, workforce training and access reviews.
- A BAA with every other vendor that touches PHI: your own cloud host if you self-host the exported code, and any video, SMS, email or payment provider you connect.
- Not entering real patient data while you build. Use synthetic data in the builder.
Certifications, stated plainly
VertiComply does not hold a SOC 2 report or a HITRUST certification as a company. The code it generates is mapped to SOC 2 Trust Services Criteria and HITRUST CSF controls, which shortens your own audit. Any vendor claiming to be “HIPAA certified” is describing something that does not exist.

Frequently asked questions
Is VertiComply HIPAA compliant?
VertiComply can be used to build and host HIPAA-compliant apps. Every app it generates includes HIPAA technical safeguards (encryption at rest and in transit, audit logging, role-based access control, session timeouts), and VertiComply signs a Business Associate Agreement on every paid plan, from Pro at $89/month, on request. HHS does not certify software as HIPAA compliant, so your app's compliance also depends on your own policies, risk analysis and vendor BAAs.
Does VertiComply sign a BAA?
Yes, on every paid plan (Pro $89/mo, Business $249/mo, Enterprise $349/mo), on request via compliance@verticomply.com. Not on the Free plan.
Can I use the Free plan with patient data?
No. Free-plan apps include the same technical safeguards so you can build and test with synthetic data, but real patient data (PHI) needs a paid plan and a signed BAA.
Is VertiComply SOC 2 or HITRUST certified?
No. VertiComply does not hold a SOC 2 report or HITRUST certification as a company. The code it generates is mapped to SOC 2 and HITRUST CSF controls, which shortens your own audit.
Who is responsible for HIPAA compliance if I export the code?
You are. Once you download the source code and host it yourself, VertiComply no longer handles that PHI and its BAA does not cover it. You need a BAA with your own hosting provider, such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
How does VertiComply compare on price with other HIPAA app builders?
VertiComply's BAA starts at $89/month. Comparable no-code builders start higher: Caspio from $300/month plus a separately priced HIPAA Edition, Knack Health HIPAA plans from $499/month, and Blaze from about $750/month. None of those export source code or build native iOS and Android apps.
